Judge Hamlin will be speaking at NJICLE’s Fall CLEfest on November, 21st at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel in Iselin. Starting at 1:20 PM, he will discuss an overview of wrongful death law. At 3:50 PM, Judge Hamlin will discuss settlement tips for wrongful death cases.
Judge Hamlin and other speakers might also cover how damages collected in wrongful death lawsuits differ from typical personal injury lawsuits. Speakers will also discuss the medical and economic aspects of damages in wrongful death lawsuits.
Fall CLEfest is hosted by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (NJICLE), a division of the New Jersey State Bar Association. CLE is an abbreviation for “continuing legal education”.
The event is an opportunity to learn from some of the most skilled and experienced litigators in New Jersey. Lecturers include judges, attorneys and other professionals. Take Judge Hamlin for example. His legal experience is broad and extremely impressive.
From 1967 to 1971, Judge Hamlin was a partner at the New Brunswick law firm of Hicks, Kuhlthau, Nagle and Hamlin. During this time, he also led the first public defender program in Middlesex County.
Judge Hamlin was appointed by Governor Brendan Byrne as Middlesex County Prosecutor in 1974. He held this position until 1978, when he was appointed as Judge in the Superior Court of Middlesex County. During his tenure, Judge Hamlin was responsible for mass tort and class action matters. He has also sat on New Jersey Supreme Court committees. Judge Hamlin served on the bench until retiring in 1998. He is currently of counsel at Keefe Law Firm as a mediator and arbitrator for tort cases.
